StartBackpacking.com has been a great resource for people just entering the backpacking/traveling lifestyle. It was recently redesigned and looks great.
There really isn’t a better site for an all-in-one information site. You can find everything from tips on how to avoid insects bites to counting in Chinese. The articles are very well written too.

What are your favorite guidebooks? Do you use guidebooks?

Frommers? Lonely Planet? Something else?
I really like Lonely Planet’s books myself. I find a lot of them are plenty expensive though. eBay works for that!
