I’ve begun some good ideas for funding, mainly the thing is getting traffic here. Posting on forums, blogs, is what I’ve started to do. That should bring in some traffic.

I’ve written a one page sales letter that needs some revision; I’m hoping to send this to local travel agencies/travel related companies for sponsorship.

Offbeat GuidesI’ve got some videos to upload as well. I reviewed a brand new type of travel guide called, OffBeat Guides, who market themselves as:

Offbeat Guides creates personalized, up-to-date travel guides that cover over 30,000 travel destinations worldwide using a combination of search technology and curation by both amateur and professional travel experts.

I’ve done a video review which I’ll post up before the week is over soon.

March 15th is the first round of the Competitours and it’s going to be exciting to see how it starts.

Flyertalk.com has a couple teams competiting. They were actually sponsored by FlyerTalk.com!! How awesome is that. Just goes to show that this is something people are really interested in.

The 24 teams competiting are hoping for a chance at some really sweet grand prizes (remember that each trip length has different prizes, this is for the budget trip):

First Place

  • 20 Hotel Nights
  • 2 Airline Tickets
  • $3000 Cash Prize

Second Place

  • 15 Hotel Nights
  • 2 Airline Tickets
  • $4000 Cash Prize

Third Place

  • 15 Hotel Nights
  • 4 Airline Tickets
  • $2500 Cash Prize

The Standard competition which Richard and I are going to aim for is a little bit different. Instead of 24 teams, there are only 17. 14 Days traveling instead of 8, and of course, much better prizes. Here they are:

First Place

  • 40 Hotel Nights
  • 2 Airline Tickets
  • $5000 Cash Prize

Second Place

  • 30 Hotel Nights
  • 2 Airline Tickets
  • $6500 Cash Prize

Third Place

  • 30 Hotel Nights
  • 4 Airline Tickets
  • $4500 Cash Prize

For me, it was easy to choose to do the longer and more expensive leg. I want to be challenged, I want to show just how creative and competitive we can be. I have faith that if we can come up with the money, nothing will stop us from not obtaining our goal. Of course, while it is a competition, we plan to have fun and not just be out for blood.

You can read more about Competitours on their website Competitours.com

Welcome!

Traveling is such a fun thing to do; especially when you’re in a position to work and make money while traveling.

If you’ve ever seen the TV reality show The Amazing Race (if not, read here) you’ll be familiar with what I’m about to go over.

Competitours is an Amazing Race-esque type travel event. You and your teammate travel and compete with other travelers in unique and challenging events. Instead of trying to compete with millions of people to get a TV spot, Competitours offers the same thing just not reality TV style.

During the competition, each team is required to submit daily video clips of their travels.

Each team is competition for the grand prize: up to 40 nights hotel stays, airline tickets, and CASH prizes. You can see the prizes on the Competitours website.

This blog will chronicle the attempt to secure funding and the actual trip. I have faith that my travel partner and I can raise the money for this. We will be working our butts off. Posting on this blog, making videos, basically driving traffic to get people interested in this idea.
